Hair Growth Inhibitors

There aren’t many natural hair growth inhibiters out there (especially ones that are preservative free), but here is one….

Discover Pilisoft
Botanical hair growth inhibitor

The development of the post depilatory and after shave market segment also follows, and is driven by, the general trend for more premium products, with new and stronger added value claims.
Beyond soothing and calming, this kind of products has to provide additional benefits, especially the possibility to reduce the frequency of hair removal treatments. By reducing hair growth PILISOFTTM from Laboratoires Sérobiologiques offers the solution to maintain the softness of just depilated skin, for a longer time.

• Main active components identified from Gymnema Sylvestre leaves extract.
• Significant inhibition of the activity of hair follicles.
• Slowing down of hair growth. Allows reducing the frequency of hair removal treatments.
• Reduction of hairiness. Improved aesthetics and easier shaving.

Longer lasting smoothness especially for sensitive skin

PILISOFT™ is a specific active that prolongs and enhances the effects of hair removal treatments by combining two
simultaneous effects.
PILISOFT™reduces hair vitality and visibly slows down hair growth, resulting in increased ease of depilation and shaving, the frequency of which may consequently be reduced.
PILISOFT™, with its gentle care, was specifically developed for daily use. Thus it can be used in a wide range of body care applications for women as well as in men’s after shave balms and lotions.

PILISOFT™, botanical hair-growth inhibitor, extract from the leaves of Gymnema sylvestre with identified tracer gymnemic acids, offers the most sensitive skin a longer lasting smoothness between two hair removal treatments

Natural Preservatives

Citramed sets sights on first natural preservative
By Guy Montague-Jones

27-May-2008 – Citramed is preparing to market antibacterial and antifungal ingredients derived from citrus fruit in the coming weeks with a view to developing the first natural preservative.

The Israel-based company has created an extraction method to harness the preservative power of citrus peel and solve the shelf life headaches facing natural and organic manufacturers.

Lack of natural alternatives

The current lack of alternatives to traditional preservatives has persuaded many to opt for ‘nature-identical’ substances instead but some suppliers are working towards plant-based solutions.

Citramed is among them and while other companies have already identified the potential of citrus fruit, it claims to be the first to have found a viable extraction method.

Citramed CEO Eli Levy told CosmeticsDesign.com: “Citrus peel is already known for its potential as a preservative but we have succeeded in creating an extraction process that gets a potent amount of the right material from the fruit.”

Using a water-based process, the company will launch antibacterial and antifungal ingredients for the global cosmetics industry over the coming weeks.

Guide Review – Review of Saude Pele Radiance Booster
Makeup artist, Christopher Drummond, has used his training and skills to come up with one of the best versatile makeup items in a long time. His new product, Saude Pele, is not only a radiance booster, but a multi-tasker as well. The 100% natural, organic, and vegan powder is lightweight, beautiful, and it leaves your skin looking flawless.

When Christopher contacted me about his new powder and I went to his website I became very intrigued and had to try it for myself. I love all-natural products and since Saude Pele is 100% natural and contains antioxidants such as green tea and acai, I couldn’t wait to try it. The day it arrived in the mail, I read over the enclosed product information and then immediately went to try some on.

I first tried a little on the back of my hand and loved the automatic natural bronzing effect. The powder felt very light and there was absolutely no scent, which is wonderful. I then applied some over the mineral makeup I was already wearing and could see an immediate “radiance”. The really great thing is that the powder is concentrated so a little bit does go a long way. Also, there was no powder “fall out” from applying it.

The kicker with Saude Pele is that it is versatile, so you can use it multiple ways. I tried Saude Pele on clean skin and it gave me a nice natural sun-kissed flawless look, without the heavy feel of makeup. I also tried mixing a little with my facial moisturizer, creating a bronzer that could be used on my face, neck, and décolleté area. But one of my favorite ways of using Saude Pele was mixing it with Smith’s Rose Bud Salve and using it to highlight my cheeks and eyes, and then as lip gloss. Basically, Saude Pele is so diverse you can use it with on in anything you can imagine. The bottom line: if there is only one new product that you can buy this year, Saude Pele should be it.

Fragrance and pregnancy

Q: Im getting ready to have a baby and am looking for a safe alternative for fragrance. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate them.

A: There are a lot of things to avoid when pregnant. Here is a great article about herbs:
http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/Weed12.html

Here is another from the APA:
http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/perfume.htm

Fragrances are a huge issue with pregnant women. Things to avoid are any that have high amounts of essential oils and perfumes with artificial colors. Essential oils absorb quickly and readily into the body, so if you use certain ones that are bad for pregnancy, it may be an issue.

I say that you should check out organic body lotions and body sprays. These will be safe. I would generally stay away from any traditional perfumes, as they are made with artificial ingredients…….
