Cate Blanchett: Get the Look

For all of you fans of Ms. Blanchett, the makeup look is simple and classic. Here’s how to get it:
1. Basic Foundation. There is nothing too special here about the flawless-looking foundtaion. Use a product like our natural concealer and our Veludo Velvet Foundation. Both products will give you a natural-looking glow while feeling like you have nothing but air on your skin!
2. Eyes. This is the real secret to this look. First, apply single falsies (or cut a strip in 1/3). Place the false lashes on the outer third of the lid. This pulls the eye out giving it the “doe eye” effect. Use your own natural lashes in the innercorner of the eye.

Next, take your eyeliner and focus on the outer corner of the eye. Follow your natural eyeline on the corner. Then, do the same on the outer bottom corner. follow up with black shadow and smudge it so it is blended well. You should only put a little eyeliner on the inner half of the eye. The focus is on the outer corner….this is a modified 80’s look….

Follow up with a nude lipstick and lipgloss

Voila! You are Cate Blanchett!!!

Now At the Gaylord Resort in DC

We are now being sold at the Gaylord Resort in Washington, D.C. Here is a recent review of a client who went in to check out our line:

Met with Marian today at the Gaylord Hotel and she was a great help with the CDB line. She also let me try a few of her samples of the new blush colors and the newest eyeshadow Aimee (which I love by the way). I had ordered testers of the foundation and got my full size product and with her help knew I was getting the best shade for my skin tone. I also picked up two eyeshadows – gold and brown! She is going to let me know when the rest of the product line is available (probably June). It was really great trying out the colors before purchasing so if you live close by check it out!

Makeup Influenced by Brazil

I get a lot of questions about why my makeup line has names in Portuguese. the answer is simple. When I think of beautiful skin=I think of Brazil. Not only are they sunkissed, their skin is lively, glowing and radiant. I hardly ever see a Brazilian with bad skin. Why is that?

So, I decided to harness the feel of the Brazilian beaches, and create a line that uses the Brazilian fruit, Acai.
My
Saude Pele is the epitome of what Brazilian skin is all about: It gives a transluscent, golden glow to the skin and makes you look well rested and energized.

So, for Brazilian-influenced skin, look to our products at www.christopherdrummond.com

Cosmetics vs. Cosmetic Surgery

In 30 years time will consumers be popping pills, applying creams or going under the knife in the fight for eternal youth?

This question was put to a panel of speakers at the recent Cosmetic Science Conference organised by the UK Society of Cosmetic Chemists.

Prevention rather than cure

Dr Tony Chu from Imperial College London, claimed the days of cosmetic surgery were numbered and would be increasingly replaced by non-invasive cosmetic procedures.

Chu said prevention of aging is taking over from treatment and this implies that consumers of the future will choose preventative skin care products over the knife.

This view was echoed by fellow speaker Dr Stefanie Williams, a dermatologist from European Dermatology London, who said prevention could include the increased use of sunscreen and the improvement of sun protection products via the addition of antioxidants.

The panel discussion had been opened by key note speaker Dr Tony Rawlings from AVR Consulting who discussed the efficacy of existing cosmetic products and what can be expected in the future.

Not as effective as surgery

He maintained that cosmetics will never be as effective as surgery but they do have significant physiological effects.

“The bottom line is that we have no chance of matching surgical procedures. We can never be as effective as botox, but cosmetics can and do have important physiological effects,” he said.
