Light Makeup the Newest "Trend"

Well, well, well….looks like fashion is finally listening to me. The ugly gaudy makeup laiden, overly colorful makeup looks from last season is continually being shunned. Thank Goodness. Today’s woman simply doesn’t have a lot of time to look made up or to put all that makeup on. Just ask Pat McGrath:

“(makeup is) much lighter for Gucci. Lightness in makeup is a trend for spring,” said Pat McGrath. She used a light brown powder on the eyes and a narrow brown liquid liner to define the lash line. Brown mascara was added to the lashes and a nude pink color on the cheekbones.

for examples of a light, flasless-looking makeup line, check out Christopher Drummond Beauty. The linee is all natural, light as air, and truly amazing! Throw away your heavy makeup and make your life easier and healthier with beautiful, transluscent makeup….

Beauty Tips for the Frugal Glamazon

Beauty tips for the frugal Glamazon by Christopher Drummond
I know, you have champagne tastes on a beer budget. Don’t we all. Well, we here at Christopher Drummond Beauty believe that you can still be fabulous and still be efficient with your beauty dollars. Here are a few tips:

1) Multi task. Use one product for multiple uses. Saude Pele Radiance Booster, for instance. A product like this can be used in many ways: as an eyeshadow base, a highlighter on the cheek bones, mix it with clear gloss to boost up the look of your lips, mix it with your moisturizer, and even mix it with your hair gel to add extra oomph! This one product has over twenty beauty uses (that we know of!!!!)
2)Create your own tinted moisturizer. Take your powder foundation (Veludo Velvet Foundation from Christopher Drummond Beauty works great) and add about a teaspoon to your facial moisturizer on the back of your hand. Mix it up. Voila! You have a tinted moisturizer made of your favorite moisturizer and your favorite foundation.
3)Use one product all over. Just because a product is labeled as an eye shadow doesn’t mean you can ONLY use it on the eyes! Try it all over: eyes, cheeks, lips…wherever you want a little color. Here’s another tip, use your shadow or blush wet, and it can become a great liner!!!
4)Powder foundation wet. I was at a shoot the other day, and realized I had NO CONCEALER. So, I improvised. I took my Veludo Velvet Foundation, added some cream to it, and it worked brilliantly as a concealer. The model never knew the difference. The great thing about powder foundation is that it is so versatile…try it!!!
5)Eye liner as Mascara. Another shoot I realized that I didn’t have mascara (how does a makeup artist not have mascara?????) anyway, I took my cream eyeliner, applied it to a liner brush, and used it on the lashes. It didn’t extend the lashes, but it made them black and glossy….they looked great!
6)Mascara as eyeliner. I once needed a waterproof eyeliner, and (surprise) didn’t have it. But I DID have a waterproof mascara. I rubbed the mascara wand on my hand, took my liner brush, dipped it on my hand where the mascara was, and had a great waterproof liner!!!!!!!

Post Labor Day Looks: Makeup Trends

The days of summer are screeching to a hault. Labor Day seems to harken a change in the minds of people. It’s time to start working harder, playing less, and preparing for the winter months ahead.
Fortunately, Labor Day and Fashion Week generally coincide. This means we can take a glimpse into the future of beauty, and see what the trends are going to be. This year, Fashion Week had quite a few different looks; however a few things were pretty consistant. Here are my tips for post Labor Day/Post Fashion Week 2009:

1)Translucent foundation. A continuing trend that I focused on for the Jillian Lewis show (and was seen on all other shows, for that matter), was a lack of a “made up” skin. This means unobvious concealer and foundation. Two perfect products to emulate this look (and feel!) is Veludo Velvet Foundation and the Natural Concealer by Christopher Drummond Beauty. Both are free of Titanium dioxide and Zinc oxide, so they are very rich feeling, while at the same time, they are light as air. They will provide a moisturized feeling and look to the skin, yet you will look like you have nothing on. All anyone will see is beautiful, healthy skin. Even if you don’t have it.

2)Glowing Complexion. Saude Pele Radiance Booster by Christopher Drummond Beauty is the best product on the market if you want to give your skin a subtle yet gorgeous glow. The great thing is, you will look like your skin has the glow, not the makeup you have on. This invisible non-cream will give your skin the “oomph” it needs, while infusing the skin with Acai, vitamins, minerals, green tea and soy isoflavones. I use it on every person I apply makeup to, and they ALWAYS look better in just seconds! A must have for Post Labor Day!

3)Gold Eyeshadow. We want to maintain the radiant look that the sun gives us, don’t we? What better way than to apply a beautiful golden eye shadow? Gold looks great on everyone. Period. Whether you use a small amount just to perk up the eyes, or a large amount to really glam up your look, Oro Shadow is for you. It is coupled with good for you ingredients and is non toxic, so you can look radiant and feel good all a the same time. Apply a small amount of Christopher Drummond Beauty Oro with the finger tips to give a beautiful “worn in” look to the color. If you want more intensity, layer the pigments.

Spring 2010 trends: Hot and NOT!

Here it is, direct from the pros at fashion week: what’s hot, and what’s not!!! All across the board, what everyone is saying is “clean”. This doesn’t mean no color, it just means a nice, clean look that is simple and not too “overdone”. This is true with both hair and makeup.

Hot makeup trends: The “clean” look: Very light and healthy-looking foundation. This means using peoducts like Christopher Drummond Beauty’s Veludo Velvet foundation. You should not be able to see foundation….it should help your skin look better, not cover it up!
Also, with makeup, the look is going away from the heavier colors of last season. Instead, spring uses more sheer colors that aren’t as obvious. Color is still there, but more subtle and pretty.
As always, pastels will figure heavily into the look for spring. This is nothing new, but it’s always refreshing to see bright, light, clean colors after a long and tedious winter!
Other trends: Hair: Shorter and cleaner. The long extensions are OUT. Nails: the french manicure on the toes are a thing of the past.
