Titanium Dioxide in Cosmetics: Good or Bad?

Q:
Is Christopher Drummond Beautyclear of these toxins such as titanium dioxide? I believe your foundation is pure, but I'm concerned that you are offering products with this ingredient in them. Why do you contain Titanium Dioxide in some of your products? Thanks! Ella

A:
Hi Ella:
We certainly would not want you to order any product from us that does not meet your criteria as safe and effective.
Please note that Titanium Dioxide is not a “toxin”; it is suspected of causing irritation in the lungs. Since there has been some controversy concerning the possible effects of using Titanium Dioxide directly on the face, we do not use it in our face powders. To date, we do not know of any other company who has taken this precaution to minimize the risk of adverse effects to customers.

However when using products with color, it is needed to add adhesion to the product. Otherwise, the product will not stay on long.
We do have Titanium Dioxide-free cosmetics such as blushes that work wonderfully on the eyes as well.
We take every precaution to ensure that we do not use any known toxic or harmful ingredients in our products. It is important to note that none of our ingredients are over a “3” for toxicity according to the Cosmetics Database. We suggest going to this website to learn more about cosmetic ingredients and you will see that none of our ingredients used are toxic or harmful. This is a great resource for people who are very concerned about ingredients. http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/

As noted on our website, we are members of the “Campaign for Safe Cosmetics”. We are one of very few companies that are endorsed by this campaign that promises safety in all ingredients we use. http://www.safecosmetics.org/. See our name on the website HERE
We thank you for your inquiry.
Christopher Drummond Beauty
